Symbolism of Hanuman - for the Sadhaka
In Ramayana, Hanuman symbolizes and is portrayed as a role model for the sadhaka. Hanuman when He first meets Rama, it's the Glimpse of the Atman or God and he is inspired to undertake the works (Rama kariyam). He goes to Lanka in search of Sita (Sattva). During this process, He undergoes self-doubt and shoka especially when he searches for Sita in the wrong places and doesn't find. We do this all the time seeking happiness from the world (searching outside). He finds Sita and merges with Rama.
